Goal Statement and Strategies

I've typed up the goals that we talked about yesterday at our meeting.  Please let me know what we need to adjust.  I really like the ideas that we came up with but I may have gotten the wording wrong!  :)  Thanks for all the input!

1.  Teachers will use at least 2 (Do we want to be that specific?) 21st Century Systems to implement appropriate interventions to meet student needs.
        a.  AIMSWeb (10% out of red?  Is that the direction we want to take it?)
        b.  EVAAS (I don't know how to make this measurable.  I am not very familiar with it.)
        c.  NC WISE (Using attendance records to help with remediation and i/e time)

2.  Teachers will use a 21st Century System to maintain skills acquired during the school year over the summer months.
       a.  Wikis with written log or Google Form they add their name to everytime they get on
       b.  Alternative assignment for students without internet access
       c.  This would be created and maintained as a grade level.

3.  Teachers will use at least 1 (again, do we want to go with 1 specifically?) 21st Century System to communicate with each of the follwing.
       a.  Parents - Wikis, Facebook (Is Facebook something we want to put in?)
       b.  Colleagues - Wikis, Google Docs, Blogs
       c.  Outside schools/world- Skype, Wikis

Ideas

I definitely think one of our strategic goals should focus in on how to use 21st century systems to meet student needs.  The AIMSWEB and EVAAS systems both track and break down data on each student.

I also think another goal should focus in on using 21st century systems to communicate with the community and beyond.  Wikis and Skype are both readily available and great for communicating.  I also think a Facebook page would reach a huge number of parents.

Another goal that we talked about last week had to do with using 21st century systems to plan with colleagues.  Wikis and Google Docs are a few examples of ways to use these systems to plan and collaborate.

Just some ideas to start with...

Goal 5 Members

Since many of us work different hours and in different buildings, I thought that maybe we could set up a blog to communicate ideas, questions, and comments about the goal that we will be working on.  This way everyone can see all the members' ideas.  Our goal states that "NC Public Schools will be governed and supported by 21st Century Systems."  We are planning on meeting Wed. April 13th at 3:15.  Many of you leave before that time so if you would just like to add any ideas that you have to the blog, you would not have to stay for the meeting.  We would love for you to!  :)  But I definitely understand that many of you leave before then.  Below, I've linked some NC SIT plans from other counties.  Many were very helpful for me.  They helped me see in which direction this goal wants us to go.  I think our main focus right now would be to think about the areas within 21st Century Systems that we, as a school, need to improve upon.  We will take those areas and create specific goals for this 3 year plan.  If you have any questions, please just let me know!  Thanks!    Kristi
