Goal 5 Members

Since many of us work different hours and in different buildings, I thought that maybe we could set up a blog to communicate ideas, questions, and comments about the goal that we will be working on.  This way everyone can see all the members' ideas.  Our goal states that "NC Public Schools will be governed and supported by 21st Century Systems."  We are planning on meeting Wed. April 13th at 3:15.  Many of you leave before that time so if you would just like to add any ideas that you have to the blog, you would not have to stay for the meeting.  We would love for you to!  :)  But I definitely understand that many of you leave before then.  Below, I've linked some NC SIT plans from other counties.  Many were very helpful for me.  They helped me see in which direction this goal wants us to go.  I think our main focus right now would be to think about the areas within 21st Century Systems that we, as a school, need to improve upon.  We will take those areas and create specific goals for this 3 year plan.  If you have any questions, please just let me know!  Thanks!    Kristi

  2. One of the things that jumped out at me as far as using technology to enhance education was how our children in the first grade respond to games, etc., on the wiki (school/ class website) that they access at home. They think it's absolutely wonderful to do these things at home (and get to show off for their parents!). What if each grade level had enough on the wiki available for the kids during the summer? My thinking is that it would make kids less likely to lose ground over the summer, and they might even be curious to go to the next year and figure some things out. (Maybe even offer some kind of reward for those who can prove they have worked...is that even possible?...like a print-out or something?) Just a thought.

  3. I think in our planning is where we can concentrate on technology as well. We can arrange to have our ITF offer in house training for additional strategies for Smartboard use, Skype, Google Docs, and other resources available to us online. In PLC, we could use the time to brainstorm and plan ways to use this technology effectively as it pertains to the grade level curriculum.

I haven't thought a solution out completely, but another idea in applying data from NCWISE could be to focus instructional time for students with excessive absences. Maybe this piece could be incorporate into our planning with technology objective? Still thinking on this one...
